Sable trees were a type of tree with maze-like roots. By the High Republic Era, the planet Coruscant was the location of one of the only sable trees in the galaxy. Axel Greylark—son of Republic Supreme Chancellor Kyong Greylark—became familiar with the sable tree's location and spent time there.[1]
While serving a prison sentence on the planet Pipyyr[1] in 382 BBY,[2] Greylark lamented to Jedi Wayseeker Gella Nattai that he missed Coruscant and would love to tour her around his former favorite places, including the tree. For a moment, Nattai imagined enjoying a conversation with him under the wizened tree but then brushed her thoughts aside after reminding herself that he was now a criminal.[1]
Behind the scenes
Sable trees were mentioned in Cataclysm, a novel written by Lydia Kang and published in 2023 as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase II.[3]
