The SD-K4a mini-assassin droid,[1] also known as the probe killer, or the mini-assassin probe,[4] was a model of assassin droid manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata.[1] Spider-like,[4] the tiny, six legged droids could be carried inside the small pits on the head of the larger SD-K4 assassin droids.[2] Additionally, a larger version of the SD-K4a also existed, featuring a central body that was about the same size as a human head.[5]

Description

Tiny, 0.14 meter-wide, six-legged droids, SD-K4a mini-assassin droids manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata[1] used their speed to avoid blaster fire, and while they did not possess the power of the "parent" assassin droid, however, if they could enter a target's armor, they were capable of killing said target with their sharp legs. A single assassin produced in excess of thirty killers, which swarmed together in order to overcome larger opponents.[6] A larger SD-K4a variant also existed and featured a central body that was about the size of a human head. The unit was equipped with red wiring.[5]

Behind the scenes

The probe killer first appeared in "Voyage of Temptation,"[2] the thirteenth episode of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars second season, which originally aired on February 5, 2010. They were first identified in the episodic guide for "Voyage of Temptation."[7] First glimpsed via clone commando Fixer's "Databank Download" article, the larger probe killer variant was featured on Fixer's Star Wars: Shatterpoint card, which depicted Fixer tinkering with a deactivated large SD-K4a.[5]
