"Tomasso's your father?"
"He adopted me. My parents had been killed by the Empire. He raised me, took care of me."
―Luke Skywalker and Rynn Zenat[2]

At least two individuals[2] lived on the planet Barajin,[3] and at some point became the parents of the human[2] female[4] Rynn Zenat.[2] Between 19 BBY and 4 ABY,[1] during the Imperial Era,[2] when Zenat was at a very young age, her[3] parents were killed by the Galactic Empire[2] during a raid on Barajin carried out by the Spice Runners of Kijimi, leaving the girl orphaned.[3] Zenat was then adopted by the human male spice runner Tomasso who raised her before she eventually joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[2] In 5 ABY,[5] Zenat[2]—by then a pilot in the New Republic[4]—mentioned her parents and their passing to the Jedi Luke Skywalker after they arrived on the astronomical object Sauwecer to speak with Tomasso.[2]

Behind the scenes

Rynn Zenat's parents were first mentioned in the third issue of the 2024 comic limited series Star Wars: Battle of Jakku — Last Stand released as part of the Star Wars: Battle of Jakku event. The issue was written by Alex Segura and published by Marvel Comics[2] on January 15, 2025.[6]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 Battle of Jakku — Last Stand 3 establishes that Rynn Zenat's parents were killed during what Free Comic Book Day 2025: Star Wars 1 states was a raid on Barajin. Last Stand 3 also establishes the parents were killed between the formation of the Galactic Empire—dated to 19 BBY by Star Wars: Timelines—and Zenat joining the Alliance to Restore the Republic. As Star Wars 1 states Zenat was a member of the Rebel Alliance at the time of the Battle of Endor, which Timelines dates to 4 ABY, her parents must have passed away between 19 BBY and 4 ABY.
