"Instructions, Colonel. First of all, Master C'baoth is hereby placed under arrest. You may allow him free run of the royal chambers and Emperor's throne room but he is not to leave there. All control circuits from those floors will be disconnected, of course."
―Grand Admiral Thrawn to Colonel Kleyn Selid[2]

The Royal Chambers were the personal residence of Emperor Palpatine while visiting Mount Tantiss on Wayland.

History

"Where is Master C'baoth now?"
"Up in the Emperor's old royal chambers. General Covell insisted they be opened for him."
―Grand Admiral Thrawn and Colonel Kleyn Selid[2]

At some point, Palpatine put the entire mountain, including the Royal Chambers, under the protection of a Dark Jedi Guardian.[3]

At some point prior to 9 ABY, Joruus C'baoth, the insane clone of the Jedi Master Jorus C'baoth arrived on Wayland and killed the Guardian, taking up residence in the mountain.[3] He eventually allied himself with Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn, but broke it off, causing Thrawn to imprison him inside Mount Tantiss, along with putting Force-repelling ysalamir around the mountain.[2]

As he was being transported, however, C'baoth took control of the mind of one of the Imperials guarding him, General Freja Covell, and replaced parts of it with his own. He made him order the Royal Chambers be opened for C'baoth, before dying upon reaching the mountain, due to the ysalamir cutting off the clone's Force abilities and the general's mind being unable to withstand not being under C'baoth's control. Thrawn allowed C'baoth to roam free around the chambers and throne room but without the ability to leave, along with ordering that the control circuits on the floor be disabled. The Royal Chambers were eventually destroyed during an attack on the mountain by the New Republic and Smugglers' Alliance.[2]

Layout

The Royal Chambers were on the second-to-top floor of the Emperor's secret storehouse in Mount Tantiss, just below the throne room. The chambers took up three levels and had only one turbolift stop. They consisted of a meeting room for the Emperor and his advisors, an information station to access the mountain's data vaults, and other amenities for the Emperor's comfort. Additionally, the Royal Chambers housed a library that contained a repository of information about the Force.[1]
