Ronet Coorr was a male of a humanoid species who represented the planet of Iseno in the Galactic Senate during the Separatist Crisis.

Biography

The humanoid[2] male Ronet Coorr was a senator[1] from the high gravity[2] Inner Rim[3] planet of Iseno.[2] Coorr represented his homeworld in the Galactic Senate. He was close to the office of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and was a supporter of the proposed Republic Military initiative.[1] In 22 BBY,[4] during the Separatist Crisis, Palpatine formed his Loyalist Committee, a group of ten senators including Coorr, that served in diplomatic and strategic capacities whilst developing a six-month action plan to negotiate, engage Separatist elements, and settle disputes. The formation and Coorr's involvement were reported on in the CoCo District Edition of HoloNet News.[5]

Later that year,[6] Senior Senate Bureau of Intelligence official Vyn Narcassan alleged that an individual active in the Republic government was going through great lengths to hide something, using a communications channel that directly bypassed highly classified detection procedures. Coorr was highly skeptical of the allegation. In an article for HoloNet News, Coorr questioned if Narcassan was trying to end his intelligence career and said he was chasing a phantom.[7]

Coorr later traveled to the planet Alsakan to attend the Refugee Relief Movement fundraiser, held within the Xenvaer Civic Auditorium. While there, the senator spent twelve minutes talking to the journalist Dyslogia Twang about redirecting arterial traffic through industrial sectors. In their write-up about the event on HoloNet News, Twang described the talk as unfortunate, and that the redirecting talk left them wanting to open their arterial traffic on the laughably dated drapes at the event.[8]

During an evening[9] in 22 BBY,[10] Coorr was present in[11] Palpatine's office in the Republic Executive Building on the planet[12] Coruscant. Coorr and other senators watched[11] with grave concern[9] a holographic message of Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. Broadcasting from the planet Geonosis, Kenobi reported on the Trade Federation delivering a droid army, and that Nute Gunray, Viceroy of the Trade Federation, was behind the assassination attempts on Senator Padmé Amidala. Kenobi then continued that the Corporate Alliance and the Commerce Guild were allying themselves with separatist movement head Count Dooku, before being cut off by an attacking droideka.[11] Coorr and everyone else present in the room realized that this was a moment of great importance.[9]

Personality and traits

Coorr had light skin, brown eyes, and brown hair.[1] Dyslogia Twang described the senator as droning and their talk misfortunate.[8]

Behind the scenes

Ronet Coorr was created for Episode II.

Ronet Coorr was created for[1] the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones,[11] which released on May 16, 2002.[13] Early production notes for the film referred to Coorr as "Male Senator #2."[1] Coorr was first mentioned in the online article "Palpatine forms Loyalist Committee," published in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #49, part of the HoloNet News website. The news issue,[5] written by Paul Ens and Pablo Hidalgo,[14] was released on March 28, 2002.[5] Coorr was first identified as the character appearing in Episode II[1] on May 17, 2002[15] with the character's StarWars.com Databank entry.[1]

A story involving Coorr and Onaconda Farr dealing with their resignation from the Senate was later overwritten by the events of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which saw Farr killed off while still a member of the Senate.

Non-canon content

In 21 BBY, during Operation Durge's Lance, Coorr was bribed by fellow Committee senator Onaconda Farr to redirect the Naval fleet at Iseno to Farr's native Rodia. As the Iseno fleet was meant to reinforce the planet Duro, the fleet transfer served to quicken the fall of that planet to the Confederacy. Following the battle, when news of the bribe became known, both Coorr and Farr resigned from the Senate, and returned to their homeworlds.
