The Romero Cartel was a criminal cartel that operated on[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant during the High Republic Era.[1] The group shared its name with the Romero Clan, a family-run criminal organization active around the same time that was based out of the remote world Kilotowa.[3] At some point, the Utai Raik began working for the Romero Cartel and ran the tables of the organization's gambling games.[1]
Eventually, the Romero Cartel assisted Raik in acquiring her own gambling den, Raik's Parlor, in exchange for paying them a protection fee and giving them useful information.[1] In 382 BBY,[4] Axel Greylark, the son of the Republic Supreme Chancellor Kyong Greylark, visited the establishment and thought about the Utai's connection to the cartel when reflecting on her origins.[1]

The Romero Cartel was mentioned in Convergence, a 2022 novel written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.[1]
