The Rise of the Cortosis Battle Droids was a campaign that occurred when the Confederacy of Independent Systems began to manufacture battle droids with cortosis, a lightsaber-resistant substance. The event ended with the destruction of the C-B3 cortosis battle droid factory on Metalorn.

A number of missions and skirmishes were involved in this campaign, including a Mission to Tatooine, the Coruscant Insurrection, a Duel in Bentho's Nightclub and a mission to the world of Metalorn.

Behind the scenes

While The New Essential Chronology originally dated Star Wars: The New Droid Army to ten months after the start of the Clone Wars, "Heroes on Both Sides," which is set in 20 BBY, later established that the planet Coruscant had not been attacked until the events of that episode, moving The New Droid Army forward in the timeline.
