Resputi-seals, also referred to as simply resputi,[2] were a type of large and fierce creature[3] that lived in the deep sinkhole caves of the planet Utapau. The resputi-seals loved to eat Utai, a diminutive sentient species that inhabited the higher levels of the sinkholes,[1] and Utai mine workers that entered the creatures' territory were often attacked by breeding resputi-seals.[2]

In 19 BBY,[4] resputi-seals made their lair in caverns beside a bone mine above the pools and grottoes of Coranth in the Pau Sinkhole on Utapau.[2] Despite the danger posed by the resputi-seals, the best known caverns, pools, grottoes, and ponds at the bottom of the sinkhole were kept safe by the residents of Pau City.[3]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, resputi were first mentioned in the 2015 reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know.[5] The full name of resputi-seal was then used in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations,[2] in material reprinted from a section of the 2005 book of the same name that was written by Kerrie Dougherty and marked the creatures' first mention in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[6]
