- "This camp is destroyed. There isn't anyone here."
- ―A spacer, to Lisum
A Research Camp located in the wilderness of the planet Kashyyyk was used by a group of researchers during the Galactic Civil War. The camp was eventually destroyed by the Canopy bandits and the scientists were assassinated.
Description
- "Of course they are around there. They are the researchers in charge of the camp."
- ―Lisum, to a spacer
The camp was located in the region of Kachirho, north of the city, on the planet Kashyyyk. It consisted of several rather primitive tents made from wood from the surrounding forest and brown tarpaulin. The camp was set up by a group of researchers came to the Wookiee homeworld to study the local flora. The researchers used a radio to communicate with other scientists based off-world.[2]
History
- "Hello? Who is this? I am looking for the people who are working in the camp. Can you please put one of them on?"
- ―Lisum talking over the radio
The research camp was built by a group of scientists, including Jillian, Bathoz and Rengar, after the Battle of Yavin. Although they knew that Kashyyyk could be a unsafe place, they decided to study the local plant life.[2]
In 1 ABY,[1] the dangerous Canopy bandits attacked the camp, abducted the researchers and destroyed the camp.[2]
The corpses of the dead researchers.
When a spacer came upon the camp not long after the attack, he found it ravaged and deserted. While investigating the camp site, the spacer heard a plea for help over the radio. It came from another researcher, Lisum, who was trying to contact his friends. The spacer promised to help Lisum uncover the researchers' fate. The word "Canopy" could be found scratched on a drum with blood. Lisum concluded that his friends had been taken by the Canopy bandits. He asked the spacer to travel to the bandits' camp and search for the missing researchers. The spacer returned with bad news — all of Lisum's friends had been killed. Enraged, Lisum asked the spacer to kill the bandits and promised the contents of a sealed box left behind in the destroyed camp as a reward. When the spacer returned successfully from this attack on the Canopy bandits, Lisum revealed the code and the spacer retrieved a Jawa ion pistol from the safe box.[2]
Around the same time, a spacer found a Corestrike Rancor carbine in the ruined camp.[3]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
