"I need you to find the Canopy bandit's camp and see if you can find my friends there."
Lisum, to a spacer[1]

The Canopy bandit's camp was located on the planet Kashyyyk during the Galactic Civil War. It was the base of the group of criminals known as the Canopy bandits.

Description

The camp was located in the region of Kachirho, on the planet Kashyyyk. It was situated on a cliff overlooking a river next to the Bolotaur Beach. The camp consisted of few small tents and structures.[1]

History

"So, did you find my friends? They are alright...aren't they?"
"I am sorry. I found their bodies in the Canopy camp."
―A spacer, to Lisum[1]

The Canopy bandit's camp was inhabited by the Canopy bandits, a vicious band of criminals, after the Battle of Yavin. One of their leaders, Big Nworb Yorel the Bad, was also living in the camp.[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] the Canopy bandits attacked a research camp located in the wilderness of Kashyyyk, north of Kachirho. The criminals captured the scientists working there and brought them captive to their camp. The Canopy bandits usually kidnapped people for ransom but, for some reason, they executed all the researchers this time, including Jillian, Bathoz and Rengar. A short time later, a group of spacers discovered the destroyed research camp. While investigating the camp site, a spacer was contacted over the radio by another researcher, Lisum, who was trying to liaise with his friends. The spacer accepted to help to uncover the researchers' fate and the adventurers therefore searched the camp for clues. When one of the spacers found the word "Canopy" written on a dented drum, Lisum immediately understood that the scientists had been taken by the Canopy bandits. He thus asked the spacers to find the Canopy bandit's camp where the researchers where likely held captive. The adventurers explored the area and finally found the bandit's lair. However, it was already too late and they only found the corpses of the dead scientists in the camp.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Canopy bandit's camp appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] The Canopy bandit's camp was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Rage of the Wookiees on May 5, 2005.[1]

Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
