The reed flute was a type of flute played by members of the sentient Ewok species native to the Forest Moon of Endor. Along with the bird whistle, the instrument made up the Ewok orchestra.[1] The flute shared its name with the reed plant.[3] Reed flues could also be found on the wind swept moon Toshara.[2]

In 3 ABY,[4] the outlaw Kay Vess was given several reed flutes from the owners of a windfishing skiff after helping them dispatch a group of Imperials.[2]

Behind the scenes

The reed flute was first mentioned in the 2015 reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know.[5] Reed flutes first appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws as a trophy that could be used to customize the appearance of the player's S57 Cardinal speeder bike.[2] A reed flute is also a real-world instrument.[6]
