This article is about the X-wing piloted by Porkins at the Battle of Yavin. You may be looking for the callsign Red Six.

Red 6 was a T-65 X-wing starfighter in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. It was assigned to Red Squadron[1] and stationed at the Rebel base on Yavin 4.[3] Red 6 was piloted by Jek Porkins[1] with R5-D8 as the craft's astromech droid.[4] Prior to the Battle of Yavin, the craft skipped its most recent inspection of its computer and flight control systems. During the Battle of Yavin, Porkins made several successful strafing attacks on the Death Star with Red 6.[1]

During the battle, Red 6 was hit by debris causing a cascade of malfunctions in the fighter's computer and flight control systems.[5] The systems returned incorrect information, leaving Porkins unable to judge his altitude. The fighter ended up too low to the surface of the Death Star and was an easy target for Imperial turbolasers.[6] Porkins was unable to regain control and Red 6 was hit by enemy fire, destroying it.[3]
