Rebel gunners were Rebel Alliance Heavy Weapons Specialists. Along with Rebel vanguards, they made up the 6th Regiment of the Alliance Special Forces heavy weapons specialists who operated repeating blasters or vehicle-mounted weapons, unlike their missile launcher-wielding counterparts.[2]
At the Rebel base on Yavin 4, gunnery crews manned artillery emplacements to provide air support for the base's starfighters as they fought off TIE fighter attacks launched by the Galactic Empire's blockade of the system.[1]
Rebel gunners were among the crew stationed at the Alliance's Mortex Sector HQ on the planet Fangol, where they used the base's anti-aircraft guns to fight off an Imperial blitz.[3]
