- "The general says she'll allow it!"
- ―A rebel shouts that the celebrations in Ranjiy's Krayt Hut were permitted
Ranjiy's Krayt Hut, known simply as the Krayt Hut, was a makeshift cantina on the New Republic flagship Lodestar during the Galactic Civil War between the New Republic and the Galactic Empire. A gathering place for the ship's crew, it served food, alcohol, and provided a space for leisure time. The Krayt Hut was destroyed along with the entirety of the Lodestar during an Imperial attack in the Cerberon system in 5 ABY.
Description
Nath Tensent said the Krayt Hut was a former shipboard home of a Republic Senator.
Ranjiy's Krayt Hut, also known simply as the Krayt Hut, was a makeshift cantina located aboard the New Republic flagship Lodestar. During the Galactic Civil War between the New Republic,[2] a democratic republic[3] founded by the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and Galactic Empire, the Krayt Hut was used by the crew of the Lodestar to gather after hours. The space was denoted by a glowing sign that displayed "Ranjiy's Krayt Hut" and included a couch that was worn down to its metal frame.[2]
The Krayt Hut served drinks, mainly cheaper alcohol, as well as food, including military-grade imitation braised bantha. A bathroom was located somewhat nearby. The New Republic pilot Nath Tensent claimed the suite had once been the shipboard home of an Old Republic Senator from[2] the planet[3] Malastare and told his new companion and fellow pilot Wyl Lark of such.[2] Ranjiy's Krayt Hut shared its name with the krayt dragon, a carnivorous reptilian creature.[4]
History
- "We're going to celebrate like we saved the galaxy."
- ―Chass na Chadic invites Wyl Lark to participate in festivities at Ranjiy's Krayt Hut
Chass na Chadic's music was the soundtrack for the jubilant celebrations in Ranjiy's Krayt Hut.
In 4 ABY,[5] after Tensent had become a member of the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron, he spent several hours eating, drinking, or gambling in both the Krayt Hut and the ship's mess hall. Following a raid on an Imperial outpost that had been relaying messages to the Imperial-controlled planet Pandem Nai, Tensent joined the pilots of Hail Squadron at the Krayt Hut until past midnight and into the morning, where they compared notes on Y-wing repair. As the ragtag crew that made up the newly assembled Alphabet Squadron, namely Tensent, Lark, Yrica Quell, Kairos, and Chass na Chadic, eventually began to bond, they also began to hang out at the Krayt Hut.[2]
Following the Battle of Pandem Nai, which was a resounding New Republic win, a victory party was held aboard the Lodestar, with Ranjiy's Krayt Hut playing host to a group of over thirty pilots, mechanics, and specforce troops. Although some of the partygoers expected General Hera Syndulla, the Lodestar's commander, to shut the party down, a captain arrived at the Krayt Hut to deliver the news that she would be allowing the party. Syndulla eventually joined the party herself, with Tensent buying her a drink. As the party at the Krayt Hut wore on, Kairos and Chadic played sabacc and Chadic heard her music playing, learning that Lark had taken her datachips of deva pop music to play. Chadic invited Lark to stay and participate in the celebrations at the Krayt Hut, which he did.[2]
In 5 ABY,[1] New Republic forces, including the Lodestar, were attacked by the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, the same outfit who had failed to stop the New Republic at Pandem Nai. The Lodestar had been positioned above the planet Troithe but was attacked by squadrons of Imperial fighters, resulting in the ship being completely destroyed.[6]
