- "The Cerberon worlds orbit a black hole that will one day swallow us up. Every time my constituents look at the sky, they're reminded of our culture's mortality. I like being a senator. I like talking and I like the attention, same as you. But I take my people seriously, and I don't blame them for their anger or their grief. I represent them, and they deserve to be heard."
- ―Senator Lud Marroi
The Cerberon system was a star system situated in the Deep Core, centered around the black hole known as the Cerberon singularity. It contained several planets, including the urban world Troithe, a rival to the Galactic Republic capital of Coruscant centuries before the Imperial Era; Catadra, a planet home to numerous religious cults and orbited by the moon Narthex; and rocky, airless Verzan. The Cerberon singularity was also orbited by a debris field, containing asteroids such as CER952B and a desert planetoid. During the final stages of the Galactic Civil War, the Cerberon system was a valuable location that the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing sought to retake.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "It's a bit trivial, but I'm pretty pleased with how the Cerberon system as a whole came together […] So many Star Wars stories (including most of my own) hop from star to star so fast you don't get to feel much of the weight of local history or culture. It was interesting to spend most of the novel in a single system."
- ―Alexander Freed
The Cerberon system appeared in the 2020 novel Shadow Fall: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, written by Alexander Freed.[1] As Freed felt that many stories in Star Wars often traveled between locations too quickly to develop the local history or culture, he was interested by having a majority of the novel set in the Cerberon system.[4]
