- "Marrok, form up on my wing and wait for my signal."
"As you wish." - ―Shin Hati and Marrok
The RP82 Fiend fighter or simply the RP82 was a model of compact, high-performance assault starfighter.
History
- "Our fighters have engaged the target and pursued them into the debris field."
- ―Enoch
A modified version of the RP82
Modified RP82s[1] were piloted by Shin Hati and Marrok[2] as mercenaries under the pay of Morgan Elsbeth.[4] Meanwhile, Elsbeth's scout guards flew[2] standard RP82s,[1] which were, comparatively, a smaller starfighter via a smaller wing design. Marrok, Hati, and the scout guards used their Fiend fighters when engaging former Jedi Ahsoka Tano and her Mandalorian Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren during their investigation of the planet Seatos where the secret Eye of Sion was located.[2] After Elsbeth and her forces found Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn," the scout guards and their starfighters joined the ranks of his remnant.[3]
Characteristics
Shin Hati in the cockpit of her Fiend fighter
Compact, high-performance,[4] and agile, RP82 Fiend fighters were starfighters specially contracted for bursts of high-performance.[1] Their basic simple design ensured ultimate manoeuvrability, including a cockpit with a cylindrical fuselage and forward-mounted wings.[1]
Armament
The starfighter was equipped with a laser cannon mounted onto the fuselage.[1]
Behind the scenes
This starfighter was first pictured in the teaser trailer for Star Wars: Ahsoka in April 7, 2023,[5] before making their debut in the third episode of Ahsoka Season 1, "Part Three: Time to Fly,"[2] on August 29, 2023.[6] It was first identified in a LEGO Star Wars set as part of the Summer 2023 wave in the San Diego Comic Con in July 19 of the same year.[7] The box art for the LEGO set depicts Shin Hait's Fiend fighter, controlled by the dark side adept herself, in a dogfight against a New Republic E-wing starfighter piloted by Captain Porter. Other promotional imagery for the set depicts Hati piloting the draft overhead while Morgan Elsbeth and Baylan Skoll deal with Porter and a R-series astromech droid.[8]
