Biography
- "Hi there. You must be T9. I'm going to get you out, so you better not zap me."
[Speaks in Binary] - ―Kay Vess, to R5-T9
R5-T9, also known as simply T9, was an astromech droid that resided on the Outer Rim moon Toshara[1] in 3 ABY. That year,[2] he was affiliated with the criminal Pyke Syndicate, but was free to move around the moon, though he would always meet back with a member of the syndicate at Mirogana Market in Toshara's capital city Mirogana. During his time moving around the moon, T9 enjoyed zapping bandits with his shock prod at their camp near Typhon's Rock.[1] At one point in 3 ABY,[2] the astromech was trapped behind an energy barrier at a bandit's camp. Unaware of the reason for droid's disappearance, the Pyke began accusing a human technician, that T9 also enjoyed zapping, of orchestrating the droid's disappearance while both were at Mirogana Market.[1]
The camp where R5-T9 was trapped
Overhearing the exchange, the scoundrel Kay Vess interjected to ask about T9. The Pyke explained who T9 was and once again accused the technician of being responsible for the droid's disappearance. The technician responded by stating that they would not want T9 and went on to suggest that astromech might have been captured by the bandits near Typhon's Rock. Addressing Vess, the Pyke asked her if she would check the camp and see if T9 was there. Vess agreed on the condition that if she found the droid, the Pyke would tell the other Pyke Syndicate members of her assistance.[1]
Vess later traveled to the camp where she discovered T9 trapped in a rock cavity behind the energy barrier. After freeing him, she allowed the droid to head back to Mirogana on his own, but decided to verify that he made it home safely. When she next visited Mirogana, she found the astromech and his Pyke friend at the city's spaceport. The Pyke expressed their appreciation for Vess's help and promised that the Pykes would not forget her assistance.[1]
