"It's a simple run. Stash a couple hundred bottles of R'alla mineral water in the Falcon's floor compartments, then smuggle the contraband to the clean-living people of Rampa II."
―Han Solo, Smuggler's Guide[1]

R'alla mineral water was an expensive water.[2] In the year 10 BBY,[3] Astrid Fenris ran a scam in which she exported relatively worthless Vandor ice and then sold it to gullible customers as expensive R'alla mineral water, which they believed had rejuvenating properties.[2] Between 10 BBY and 3 ABY,[4] Han Solo and Chewbacca worked with the Briil Twins to smuggle hundred bottles of R'alla mineral water to the people of Rampa II. Solo hoped that they'll earn enough to get them off the Red List and shake the debt collectors.[1]

Behind the scenes

R'alla mineral water was first mentioned in Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo and released in 2018.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, R'alla mineral water first appeared in the 1979 novel Han Solo's Revenge, written by Brian Daley.[5]

  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide
  3. Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide states that the events on Vandor, which includes the appearance of Fenris, in Solo: A Star Wars Story take place nine years after the formation of the Galactic Empire. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the formation of the Empire to 19 BBY, therefore the appearance of the grub in the film must take place in 10 BBY.
  4. The entry in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide that mentions 373-CR takes place after Han Solo has completed the Kessel Run, but before he encounters a bounty hunter on Ord Mantell, which is mentioned as having occurred prior to the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide establishes that Solo completes the Kessel Run nine years after the Proclamation of the New Order, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 19 BBY, meaning Solo's Kessel Run must take place in 10 BBY. The Atlas also dates the Battle of Hoth to 3 ABY; therefore, the entry in the in-universe book Smuggler's Guide must have been written between 10 BBY and 3 ABY.
