Prince William is the elder son of King Charles III and Princess Diana, and the current Prince of Wales. Prince William, then the Duke of Cambridge, played as a First Order stormtrooper alongside his brother, Prince Harry, and actor Tom Hardy and singer Gary Barlow in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, a 2017 sequel trilogy film. In their scene, they escort John Boyega as the protagonist Finn[1] infiltrating a turbolift on the First Order dreadnought Supremacy. The cameos were not credited in the film's credit, and the scene was cut from film's release.[2]

In the afternoon of April 19, 2016, the princes had visited the film set as a celebration of the British creative talent behind the Star Wars saga. At Pinewood Studios, the royals battled each other with lightsaber props, received Wookiee hugs from Chewbacca—played by Joonas Suotamo—and spoke with the cast and crew of The Last Jedi.[3] The Last Jedi's European Premiere was hosted at Royal Albert Hall on December 12, 2017; the two princes attended the occasion, which supported their and the then Duchess of Cambridge's The Royal Foundation charity.[4]
