The Mega-class Star Dreadnought, also known as the Mega-class Star Destroyer, the Mega Star Destroyer, or the First Order Mega-Destroyer, was a class of Star Dreadnought utilized by the First Order during their conflict with the Resistance. It was believed to be the largest ship ever constructed in galactic history.
Design and capabilities
The ventral surface of a Mega-class dreadnought
The Mega-class Star Dreadnought was more than 60 kilometers wide, and almost 13 kilometers long.[2] It could carry six Resurgent-class Star Destroyers in the aft portion of the wings, as well as two internally.[1]
Powered by at least six fusion reactor complexes,[1]the Mega-class had around 32 sublight engines,[4] as well as a hyperdrive. It also housed a hyperspace tracker, found on other starships as well.[5] It could carry 2,225,000 personnel,[1] included stormtroopers and officers. The ship had a throne room for Snoke, Supreme Leader of the First Order, as well as several automatic laundromats.[5] Designed to be fully self-sufficient, the Mega-class had on-board factories, foundries, ore-processing plants, and two shipyards.[1]
In addition, the vessel possessed heavy turbolasers, anti-ship missile batteries, and tractor beam projectors.[1] The ship carried a large amount of various military vehicles, including dropships, All Terrain Armored Transports, All Terrain Scout Transports, and All Terrain MegaCaliber Six walkers.[5]
History
The Supremacy attacks the Resistance fleet.
The sole Mega-class Star Dreadnought in the First Order Navy was the Supremacy, the flagship of Supreme Leader Snoke as well as the de facto capital of the First Order.[6] The Supremacy suffered extensive damage while attacking the Resistance fleet when Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo rammed it near lightspeed with the heavy cruiser Raddus, slicing the Dreadnought in two and also destroying a number of its escort Resurgent-class Star Destroyers. Despite the heavy damage, the Supremacy remained functional, but it was later abandoned and scuttled by the First Order Navy due to being too heavily damaged to repair.[5]
