Prefect was a title used by the head of state of the Unknown Regions Scoftic government. Occasionally, Scoftic prefects were assassinated, which often led to the creation of new governmental protocols.[1] Around 36 BBY,[2] the Prefect had recently been assassinated, and was subsequently replaced by a new one. As a result, the Chiss Ascendancy nation, among other nearby nations, sent an ambassador to meet the new Prefect and learn his protocols.[1]

Behind the scenes

The position of Prefect was mentioned in the flashbacks of the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
