Pondweed was a type of weed that could be found in ponds. While speaking with Safrifan farmers on the Galactic Frontier swamp planet Safrifa[1] in 231 BBY,[2] the mercenary Ty Yorrick mentally noted that the Safrifans' hair hung in front of their eyes like pondweed.[1]

Pondweed was mentioned in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I and published on June 29, 2021.[3] Prior to the release of the novel, the weed was mentioned in an excerpt of the novel published on StarWars.com on April 22 of the same year.[4]
