"Grand Moff Plorest of the Corusca sector had been, to all intents and purposes, a leader in name only. Given that the Empire's capital lay within his sector, much of the actual governing was done from Coruscant."
―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[2]

Plorest was a Grand Moff of the Corusca sector within the Galactic Empire who declared himself Galactic Emperor using the fake Imperial Security Code 88173.1 after the apparent death of Emperor Sheev Palpatine in 4 ABY. The Imperial Military ignored Plorest's rule and, within three days, he was murdered by one of his lovers.

Biography

"But following Palpatine's death, and the realization that Mas Amedda was not going to work as a replacement, he contacted Imperial forces across the galaxy to declare that he was invoking Imperial Security Code 88173.1—which did not exist—to declare himself Emperor. His 'rule'—which was ignored by the military—lasted less than three days before he was murdered by one of his lovers."

Plorest declared himself successor to Sheev Palpatine.

Plorest was the Galactic Empire's Grand Moff of the Corusca sector, which contained the Empire's capital world of Coruscant. As most actual governing was done on Coruscant, Plorest was a leader in name only to all intents and purposes; however, after Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine was believed to have perished at the Battle of Endor[2] in 4 ABY,[1] the Grand Moff realized that Palpatine's Grand Vizier, Mas Amedda, was not going to work as a replacement.[2]

Plorest then took it upon himself to contact Imperial forces across the galaxy and invoke the completely fictional Imperial Security Code 88173.1 to declare himself the new Emperor. This communication was stored in a file in the "Corusca Sector" section of the Imperial Archives with the title "Declaration of the Transfer of Imperial Power." The military ignored Plorest and, less than three days after his reign began, the former Grand Moff was murdered by one of his lovers.[2] In 35 ABY,[3] the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned Plorest among other self-declared Emperors in[2] his[4] book, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.[2]

Behind the scenes

Plorest was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[2]
