- "But following Palpatine's death, and the realization that Mas Amedda was not going to work as a replacement, he contacted Imperial forces across the galaxy to declare that he was invoking Imperial Security Code 88173.1—which did not exist—to declare himself Emperor."
- ―The information cited to the file by Beaumont Kin in The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
Declaration of the Transfer of Imperial Power was a file stored in the "Corusca Sector" section of the Imperial Archives that related to Grand Moff Plorest of the Corusca sector's declaration of himself as the new Galactic Emperor to the forces of the Galactic Empire across the galaxy following the death of Emperor Sheev Palpatine[1] in 4 ABY.[2] Imperial forces ignored Plorest, who had invoked the non-existent Imperial Security Code 88173.1, and he was killed within three days of beginning his "reign." The historian Beaumont Kin cited the file when speaking about Plorest in[1] his[3] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1] in 35 ABY.[4]
Behind the scenes
Declaration of the Transfer of Imperial Power was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
