The Pits of Ku'rella were a location known to the Hutt^[1] Myarga Anjiliac Atirue.^[2] After she was captured by the Nihil pirates and held prisoner at a Nihil gas foundry on the Outer Rim^[1] planet Xais^[3] in 231 BBY,^[4] Myarga was interrogated by a Nihil pirate—secretly the undercover^[1] Jedi Knight^[2] Keeve Trennis who was trying to help the Hutt by keeping her alive as long as possible—for secrets of the Jedi Order. While speaking in Huttese in response, Myarga questioned her interrogator as to who she thought she was talking to, adding that she would see Trennis burn in the Pits of Ku'rella before telling the Nihil anything.^[1]

Behind the scenes

The Pits of Ku'rella were mentioned in the tenth issue of the 2021 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, released as part of^[1] the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.^[5] The issue was written by Cavan Scott and published by Marvel Comics on October 20, 2021.^[6] Jason Fry, author of the 2025 "Star Systems of the Galaxy" appendix of star systems, included a "Ku'rella" system in his notes about the appendix,^[7] but later clarified this was an error.^[8]
