Pioneer armor was a type of padded armor created specifically for combat engineers. It distributed weight and provided easy access to tools and supplies in the field.[1]
The armor consisted of a ballistic polymer reinforced jacket, with pants, reinforced plasteel toe-capped boots, gloves, and a modified engineering helmet. The armor also had an integrated load-bearing system, composed of adjustable straps, hoops, hooks, sealable pockets, and an integrated tool belt.[1]

Pioneer armor was first mentioned in Fully Operational,[1] a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[2]
