Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis was a biological process undertaken by plants. Plants normally photosynthesized using chlorophyll, which caused them to have green pigmentation. However, the plants on Malathon IX photosynthesized with a substance besides chlorophyll and were consequently colored red and purple.^[1]
