The Phobos Legion, classified as the 39th, was a Sith trooper legion of the Sith Eternal cult. The legion comprised five thousand troopers and was active during the war between the First Order and the Resistance until the Sith Eternal's forces were defeated at the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY. As their history was hidden from the rest of the galaxy, the significance of the legion's name, the ancient Sith Lord Phobos, was only recognized by the Sith Eternal's cultists.

The Phobos Legion, designated as the 39th, was an army legion of the Sith Eternal, a dark side cult that worshipped the Sith and was based on the Sith[1] throneworld[4] Exegol in the Unknown Regions. All Sith Eternal legions were numerically designated and given the name of an ancient Sith Lord, which for the 39th was Phobos. Only the Sith Eternal cultists recognized the significance of the names given to their legions as their history was hidden to the rest of the galaxy.[1]
As a legion of the Sith Eternal, the Phobos Legion was comprised of five thousand Sith troopers and Sith Jetpack Troopers,[2] which were soldiers created from the offspring of cultists[1] and children conscripted into the ranks of the First Order who were identified and disappeared due to their potential.[5] Sith Eternal legions were further divided into squadrons of ten troopers each, split between standard troops and aerial forces.[2] With the legion consisting of Sith troopers, these warriors were equipped with crimson red Sith trooper armor and could be armed with ST-W48 blaster rifles or FWMB-10B repeating blasters, while Sith Jetpack Troopers were equipped with NJP-900 integrated jetpacks and F-11ABA heavy blaster cannons.[1]
History
The Phobos Legion was active by the time of the war between the First Order and the Resistance[1] that occured from 34 ABY to 35 ABY.[6] The Sith Eternal and its forces were destroyed during the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY[3] when an allied Resistance force and a Citizens' Fleet from across the galaxy defeated Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious and the entirety of his forces,[5] including the Phobos Legion.[3]
