"I don't pay you to sing, Raslin."
"You're not paying me anything right now, Melchior. We can change that though. You said you have a hunt worth my time?"
"What do you know about an archaeologist named Chelli Lona Aphra?"
"Ah, you were right. This will be fun."
―Melchior Votto and Raslin Grace, aboard the Peerless[1]

The Peerless was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.[1] The 1,600-meter-long[2] Star Destroyer featured sublight engines, a hangar,[1] and two deflector shield generator domes.[3]

Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[4] the Imperial Security Bureau member Melchior Votto arranged to meet bounty hunter Raslin Grace on the Peerless, having promised the hunter a quarry that was fun and worth[1] her[5] time. Grace walked through one of the Star Destroyer's corridors singing, before meeting Votto in a room with several consoles. Votto told the bounty hunter that she was not paid to sing, to which Grace retorted that she was not currently being paid for anything. She then enquired about the job Votto needed completing. The Imperial asked the hunter what she knew about the archaeologist Chelli Lona Aphra and held up a hologram of her. Grace then replied that the bounty would be fun,[1] ultimately accepting the job.[6]

Behind the scenes

The Peerless appeared in the current Star Wars canon in the fortieth and final issue of the 2020 Doctor Aphra series from Marvel Comics. The issue was written by Alyssa Wong, illustrated by Minkyu Jung,[1] and published on January 31, 2024.[7] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Peerless was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer[8] that served the Imperial Remnant. It was first mentioned in The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic I: Remnant, a 2003 novel written by Sean Williams and Shane Dix as the fifteenth entry in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order series.[9]
