- "Well done. Hold them in the security tower. And keep it quiet. Move."
- ―Lando Calrissian
Pedar Solardo was a human who served in the Bespin Wing Guard of Cloud City on the planet Bespin during the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In 3 ABY, he was part of a squad of guards who ambushed a group of Imperial stormtroopers and Lieutenant Sheckil as they escorted the captive rebels Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, and C-3PO through the city. Lando Calrissian, the Baron Administrator of Cloud City, congratulated the guards and had Solardo and the others take the captive Imperials to the Cloud City Security Tower.
Biography
Pedar Solardo was a human member of the Bespin Wing Guard,[1] the security and law enforcement agency of the mining platform Cloud City on the gas giant Bespin.[3] During the Galactic Civil War between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire, Solardo served under[2] Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian and his administrative assistant Lobot.[3] In 3 ABY,[4] Imperial forces led by the Sith Lord Darth Vader arrived on Cloud City and forced Calrissian into making a deal in which he would help Vader capture a group of rebels who were soon to arrive on Bespin.[2]
In order to keep the city free from Imperial control, Calrissian led the rebels into Vader's trap and they were taken captive; however, Vader began altering the deal and ordered that the rebels Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, and C-3PO be taken to his shuttle, ignoring his original promise to leave Organa in Calrissian's custody.[2] Forced into action by the change, Calrissian accompanied the Imperial officer Lieutenant Sheckil[5] and a group of four stormtroopers as they escorted the trio of prisoners through Cloud City's corridors, but secretly contacted Lobot during the journey.[2]
Lobot then led[2] a squad[1] of the guards including Solardo to intercept and ambush the Imperials, doing so at a corridor intersection. Solardo drew his Relby-k23 blaster pistol and aimed it at Sheckil, grabbing the officer once the surrounded Imperials surrendered and pulling him away from the prisoners. Calrissian congratulated the squad and ordered them to quietly take the captive Imperials to Cloud City's security tower and hold them there. The Baron Administrator then left with the rebels as the security personnel marched the Imperials away[2] and placed them in a holding cell.[6] Calrissian soon called for an evacuation of Cloud City over the platform's speaker system, warning the residents that the platform was now under the Empire's control before fleeing offworld himself.[2]
Personality and traits
Solardo had light skin and black hair.[2]
Equipment
Solardo wore the gold-trimmed blue uniform of the Wing Guard, including a cap, red bracers, and a black holster for his Relby K-23 blaster pistol.[2]
Behind the scenes
Pedar Solardo first appeared in the 1980 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[2] In the current Star Wars canon, he was first identified on a card in the 2025 Topps card set 2024 Topps Star Wars Hyperspace.[1] The named originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where Solardo was first identified in "Rogues Gallery: The Cloud City Wing Guards", an article written by Tim Veekhoven and Sander de Lange and published in Star Wars Insider 148[7] on March 11, 2014.[8] The Empire Strikes Back: So You Want to Be a Jedi?, a 2015 adaptation of Episode V written by Adam Gidwitz, erroneously describes the Wings Guards that free Organa, Chewbacca, and C-3PO as a platoon who were already traveling with Calrissian and the Imperials rather than arriving with Lobot,[6] contradicting the events of the film.[2]
