"I've never seen Palmarish numerals used in proto–Republic artifacts."
―Kh'ymm[1]

Palmarish numerals were a set of symbols used on the planet At Attin during the New Republic Era. At Attin Middle School Gamma gave a patch which included the symbols to the head of the class.[1]

Around 9 ABY,[2] the At Attin undersecretary Fara picked up the patch from the school for her daughter Fern after she made it back to the top of the class.[3] Later that same year the alien astronomer Kh'ymm used the palmarish numerals on the patch to narrow down what she believed were the coordinates to At Attin so that Fern and the rest of the crew of the Onyx Cinder could get back to At Attin.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Palmarish numerals first appeared, though unnamed, in "This Could Be a Real Adventure," the first episode of the live–action Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew which aired on December 2, 2024.[3] They were later identified as Palmarish numerals in the third episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew "Very Interesting, As an Astrogation Problem" which aired on December 10 2024.[1]

  2. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well. StarWars.com SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
