Narrated in first person, "Out of the Closet: The Assassin's Tale" by Jennifer Roberson sets Anzati brain-vampire, Dannik Jerriko loose in Jabba's Palace. It appeared in Tales from Jabba's Palace which was published December 1995 by Bantam Spectra.
Plot summary
The ancient Anzati Dannik Jerriko is on the prowl on Tatooine, stalking prey so he can feed upon the blood, brains and "soup" of his victims. He has had to make do with dregs and reprobates – not the refined meals of those truly gifted with luck or the Force. Skulking in Jabba's palace, he is responsible for the deaths of Ak-Buz (a Weequay sail barge captain) and the scullion Phlegmin, though no one suspects Jerriko is the true culprit in the murders. Jerriko longs to eat the soup of Jabba the Hutt – or, better yet, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker – but he misses their departure for the Dune Sea.
Continuity
The tales of Phlegmin, J'Quille, Gartogg, Ree-Yees, Barada and the Weequay, Tessek, and Bubo form a weaving narrative of unsolved murders and a plot to bomb Jabba's sail barge. This story revealed Dannik Jerriko as the murderer.[2]
