A government led by a governor was active on the planet Ord Mantell throughout its history. As the planet grew in population and crime levels, the governors of Ord Mantell were aware of illegal activity in the open markets, and they would willingly turn a blind eye in exchange for bribes. The Mantellian courts represented the judicial system in the planet's governmental structure. The courts respected the rights of bounty hunters on the world and viewed them as a form of law enforcement that aligned with Ord Mantell's "anything goes" mentality. During the period of Imperial control in the sector, the governors and Mantellian courts accepted bribes from the Empire to prevent rebel activity on the planet.[1]
