- "Just yesterday, we oversaw the closure of the Jedi outpost on Ord Jannak. We're delivering the last effects to Coruscant now."
- ―Qui-Gon Jinn, to Leerah
A Jedi outpost of the Jedi Order was located on the planet Ord Jannak during the Republic Era. Following long periods of inactivity at the outpost, it was decided that the outpost would be shuttered, with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi closing it in 33 BBY.
Description
A Jedi outpost used by the Jedi Order was located on the planet Ord Jannak during the Republic Era. A small outpost, Jedi Knights stayed and studied there when visiting Ord Jannak.[1]
History
- "The Jedi were barely there."
"And don’t think we didn't know it." - ―Obi-Wan Kenobi and a civilian speak on the closure of the outpost
Qui-Gon Jinn oversaw the closure of the outpost on Ord Jannak.
Centuries before[1] 33 BBY,[2] a Hutt visited the outpost, with significant amounts of money being spent for the guest. Over time, the outpost became scarcely used and was empty for years at a time. The outpost was shut down[1] in 33 BBY,[2] and the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn oversaw its closure along with his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi. After closing the outpost, they returned to the planet Coruscant with several items of note the next day, including a code manual, notes on lightsaber repair, a scholarly work discussing[1] the Jedi text[3] Poetics of the Jedi, a visitor's pass to the Ord Jannak Capital Building, two datacards, and a catering bill from the Hutt's visit centuries earlier. While en route aboard the civilian transport Regal Zephyr, the two Jedi spoke with citizens from the area about the closure, and several, including the human Leerah, were upset by the Jedi closing outposts such as the Ord Jannak outpost in the Ootmian Pabol region of the galaxy.[1]
