Ord Gertoth was a planet located somewhere in the galaxy.[1] Shortly before 15 BBY,[2] the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 stowed away on a starship traveling from R-Duba to Ord Gertoth, but the duo were kicked off at a one-woman refueling station.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ord Gertoth was first mentioned in The Droids Re-Animated, an article written by Abel G. Peña and Rich Handley for the StarWars.com blog.[1] The article was finally released in 2013 after sitting in development hell for roughly a decade.[3] Peña and Handley had originally conceived of Admiral Terrinald Screed losing his eye during the "subjugation of Ord Gertoth," but when Screed's backstory was told in 2012's The Essential Guide to Warfare, they salvaged the name "Ord Gertoth" as C-3PO and R2-D2's destination after leaving R-Duba.[4]
