New Coral City was a city on the Outer Rim ocean planet Mon Cala, homeworld of the Mon Calamari and Quarren species, that existed by 20 BBY. Primarily gray in color, it consisted of a central tower that sloped down into a wide, circular base with a number of jetties and piers extending from it. Smaller towers dotted the lower areas of the central area and some of the extensions.[1]
Although most of Mon Cala's residents lived in cities underwater, New Coral City floated above an ocean's surface with a large glacier underneath it. An illustration of the city was included on a map of Mon Cala thought to have been drawn by the artist Gammit Chond based on travelers' tales. The map was later restored and published by the Graf Archive at some point after 34 ABY in the Galactic Atlas[1] as well as the later updated version of the book.[2]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, New Coral City was mentioned in Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, a 2016 reference book written by Emil Fortune and illustrated by Tim McDonagh.[1] The city originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the twenty-second issue of the Star Wars: Legacy comic series, which was John Ostrander, illustrated by Alan Robinson, and published by Dark Horse Comics[3] on April 23, 2008.[4]
