Neijaian was a language[1] spoken by the members of a tribal species who lived on the swamp planet[1] Neijaia[2] in the Expansion Region.[3] Between 32 ABY and 34 ABY,[4] the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, the BB-series astromech droid BB-8, and the young human male Kori Ong were trapped in a net by members of the species. After the three freed themselves, some of the aliens spoke in Neijaian as they chased them.[1]
Behind the scenes
Neijaian appeared in the comic story "An Unlikely Friendship," published in the fifteenth issue of the comic book series Star Wars Adventures[1] on October 31, 2018.[5] The comic story was authored by James Gilarte.[1]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Neijaian language in relation to Neijaia.

- ↑ "An Unlikely Friendship" features Black One, meaning that it takes place after Poe Dameron began leading Black Squadron. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary states that Poe Dameron began leading Black Squadron on missions two years before the Hosnian Cataclysm, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. The ship was destroyed during the events of Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which Timelines dates to 34 ABY.
