This species was a sentient species that existed in the galaxy.[5] Reek[4] and Neepers Panpick were both members of this species.[1]

Biology and appearance

This sentient species[5] was distinguished by their short stature, being roughly "Ewok-sized."[3] They had rodent-like features,[1] capable of moving both quadrupedally[3] and bipedally. Their skin could be either tan-pink[1] or gray in coloration, with similarly colored hair sprouting from either side snout-like mouth.[3] Additionally, they possessed large, glassy black eyes that bulged out of their skulls, as well as sizeable ears.[1] The species had the capacity to speak Galactic Basic Standard.[5]

During the High Republic Era, a member of this species known as Reek was found among the ranks of the Nihil pirates, specifically within the service of the mad scientist Baron Boolan[3] as of 229 BBY.[4] A couple centuries later, another member of this species by the name of Neepers Panpick worked as a private detective on the planet Cantonica.[5] During the First Order-Resistance War in 34 ABY, he was present at the Canto Casino in Canto Bight when the Resistance agents Finn and Rose Tico arrived searching for the Master Codebreaker.[1]

The species made their onscreen debut in the 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson,[1] though they were first mentioned in "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing," a short story from the Canto Bight novella collection, written by Rae Carson, which released shortly prior to the film.[5] They were originally designed by creature concept designer and sculptor Ivan Manzella[6] and titled "King 56."[7] Concept art created by MinJi Yoon for Reek, another member of this species, appeared in the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia event, first surfacing on Starwars.com in late 2023,[3] with the character finally appearing in The High Republic (2023) 7 around a half a year later.[4] According to the Keeper of the Holocron, Leland Chee, as of April 1, 2025, this species still did not have a name within the official Holocron continuity database.[8]
