- "Troopers who like Neapolitan ice cream were marked by strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate stripes."
- ―A stormtrooper in The Official Stormtrooper Training Manual
Neapolitan ice cream was a type of ice cream made with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry that was edible by humans.[1] Between 4 ABY and 5 ABY,[2] a stormtrooper of the Galactic Empire wrote in[1] his[3] handbook, The Official Stormtrooper Training Manual, that Galactic Republic clone troopers ate Neapolitan ice cream and could choose to get strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate stripe markings on their Phase I clone trooper armor if they liked the ice cream.[1]
Behind the scenes
Neapolitan ice cream was mentioned in the 2016 non-canon young readers book LEGO Star Wars: The Official Stormtrooper Training Manual, which was written by Arie Kaplan.[1] In the real world, Neapolitan ice cream is composed of three separate flavors—vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry—side by side in the same container.[4]
