A blown motivator on a R5 astromech droid
- "This R2 unit has a bad motivator."
- ―Luke Skywalker
A motivator or motivator unit was an internal mechanism that was primarily used in droids that allowed them to be able move. The motivator converted energy into mechanical motion.[2]
A standard type of motivator found in Service droids around 4 ABY was the FV50 unit. Binary motivators were used in starships such as StarSpeeder 1000s.
