Moss ghoats were a type of ghoat. During the High Republic Era, the Path of the Open Hand cult had moss ghoats that they gathered fertilizer from to use in their fields at their compound on the Outer Rim planet Dalna.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] when the Path member Marda Ro was showing Jedi Master Zallah Macri and Padawan Kevmo Zink around the compound, Zink asked why they did not use better tools or fertilizer. Ro responded that they did use fertilizer, which was natural and gathered from their moss ghoats, but that the Path chose to only use technology when necessary because they believed it interfered with their harmony with the Force.[1]
Behind the scenes
Moss ghoats were mentioned in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, written by Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase II.[3]
