The Mirkanite Mining Facility was built on Mustafar by the Galactic Empire to mine the substance known as mirkanite. The Empire planned to use this material to construct the superlaser on the first Death Star. The Rebel Alliance mercenary Rianna Saren destroyed the facility, by sabotaging the drill shaft, during her mission for the Alliance to gather intelligence on the Death Star.[1]
