Mips were minute parasitic creatures found on the arid planet Geonosis in the Outer Rim Territories. They traveled in swarms and formed a symbiotic relationship with the enormous merdeths[1] that dominated Geonosis's barren exterior.[2] Mips fed on the ichor found on their own bodies and between the carpace of the merdeths.[1] The Galactic Empire sterilized Geonosis around 9 BBY.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, mips were mentioned in "Geonosis and Other Planets in the Outer Rim," a part of the Star Wars Encyclopedia series released by De Agostini[1] on November 23, 2021.[4] The section mentioning mips[1] was written by Mark Newbold.[5] The parasites originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were mentioned in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, a 2004 supplement for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game produced by Wizards of the Coast.[6]
