- "Minions of Xendor! Good thing we're gettin' outta here!"
- ―Han Solo, to Bria Tharen
"Minions of Xendor" was a phrase used as an expletive that referred to the Legions of Lettow and their leader Xendor.
History
- "Now who in the Name of Xendor are you, and why were you askin' about me?"
- ―Mako Spince, to Han Solo
The phrase "Minions of Xendor" referred to those who supported Xendor during the First Great Schism
The phrase "Minions of Xendor" referred to the Legions of Lettow,[6] those who followed General Xendor,[7] a Kashi Mer exile and former Jedi Knight,[5] during the First Great Schism[8] of 24,500 BBY.[7]
During the Clone Wars, in 22 BBY, the expression was used by Padawan Halagad Ventor while on a mission to the planet Skye.[4]
During the Imperial Period, the phrase was commonly used among smugglers, such as by Han Solo,[3] Mako Spince, Bria Tharen, Falan Iniro,[2] and Lando Calrissian.[1] The expression was often used by Solo when he was surprised by something.[5]
Behind the scenes
- "Mention of Lyn's lover "Xendor and his minions" was a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun. Prior to this, Xendor was little more than an unspecified noun making up part of one of Lando's preferred exclamations…"
- ―Abel G. Peña
The phrase "Minions of Xendor" first appeared in the 1997 novel The Paradise Snare, the first volume of Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy authored by A. C. Crispin.[3] The 2001 article The Emperor's Pawns, co-written by Abel G. Peña and published in Star Wars Gamer 5, later revealed that "Xendor and his minions" were the Dark Jedi responsible for the First Great Schism,[8] a conflict originally mentioned in the 1996 comic Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0.[10] The 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology, co-written by Daniel Wallace, finally identified Xendor's followers as the Legions of Lettow.[6]
