Mining station

A mining station was a space station on which resources were mined from asteroids and other space materials; these materials were typically captured through the use of manipulator arms or tractor beam technology. Mining stations were distinct from standard mines (also known as shaft mines) in that shaft mines were fixed on the surface of celestial bodies. Mining stations were often controlled by private or state-owned mining guilds.^[1]
