The Mephout system was located in the Wild Space[1] sector[3] known as the Mephout Dominion.[1] It was home to the sentient species known as the Mephout.[3][4]

The area of space surrounding the Mephout system was explored between 1000 BBY and 25 BBY.[2] Shortly after the acquisition of the planet Ukio by the Commerce Guild during the Clone Wars, the Mephout system was featured on a galactic map displayed on a viewscreen at a facility run by Passel Argente, the Magistrate[5] of the Corporate Alliance.[6]

The extragalactic Nagai raiders successfully assaulted the Mephout system in 4 ABY[2] as part of an attack on the government of the Mephout Dominion.[7] The Mephout system's population around 25 ABY numbered between ten million and one hundred million.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Mephout system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square H-20.[2] The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic authored by Pablo Hidalgo and released on StarWars.com[5] over the span of the 2009[8]2010[9] second season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series,[8] featured the first appearance of the system.[5]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Mephout system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Mephout species.
