The Megadroid was a type of battle droid[3] and superweapon[6] developed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems[2] via Baktoid Combat Automata[1] during the Clone Wars on the planet Golatha. At one point during the war, the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Yoda undertook a mission to Golatha to destroy the factory where they were being built.[2] One prototype survived the destruction of the factory but was taken down by the two Jedi after much difficulty.[3] In 3 ABY or 4 ABY,[7] the crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure had one Megadroid, which was then destroyed by the cyborg Beilert Valance with the help of T'onga, Losha Tarkon, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM.[5]
Description
A Megadroid
Megadroids were coated in a stronger than average blend of durasteel, rendering them invulnerable to strikes from lightsabers. They were equipped with Electrostaff-like claws and were capable of high-speed flight, being able to breach the atmosphere in a matter of moments.[3] Despite the seemingly impenetrable alloy, a customized blaster rifle made out of a particle beam drill—designed to cut durasteel—was able to penetrate through the droid's chest.[5]
