Meerou's fortress was an asteroid fortress owned by the Orooturooian crime lord Meerou Woodring. The asteroid was defended by numerous sentry droids and was armed with high powered weaponry. Woodring kept a number of Gamorrean slaves imprisoned in the fortress, forcing them to mine the asteroid. In a plot by the crew of the pirate captain Sidon Ithano to capture the former Separatist frigate of the pirate leader Gruk, Ithano had his Gamorrean crew member, Squeaky, infiltrate the asteroid and initiate an uprising. After Ithano's first mate, Quiggold, allowed himself to be captured by Gruk's pirates, Gruk, unaware of his enemy's plans, attempted to send Ithano in to Meerou's fortress. Though Gruk hoped that Ithano himself would be killed, leaving the fortress weakened for him to capture, Ithano, with the help of the Gamorreans, took control of the fortress. After his crew captured Gruk's frigate, they used the asteroid fortress to boost the starship's hyperwave scanners in order to track down other derelict Separatist vessels. At the same time, Squeaky set the Gamorreans up to take over the asteroid.[1]
