The assassin droids 0-0-0 and BT-1 were active on the planet Gallios with the intention of carrying out a massacre. While 0-0-0 was not concerned by it, BT-1 was under the control of the Scourge, which used him to carry out the slaughter.[3] Word about 0-0-0's presence on Gallios spread across the HoloNet via a news story, which did not mention the droid's name and instead simply described him as a homicidal protocol droid. The Alliance to Restore the Republic droid C1-10P "Chopper" learned about the story. While on a secret mission, Chopper informed fellow rebel droids R2-D2 and WAC-47 about the protocol droid, which both units assumed to be R2-D2's Scourged best friend C-3PO. Upon arriving on Gallios by crashing a GX1 short hauler piloted by RX-Series pilot droid RX-23, whom R2 shocked into helping him, to the ground, R2-D2 followed a screaming mass of civilians to find it was 0-0-0 behind the terror.[2] 0-0-0 ultimately agreed that self-determination was an important goal for his friend and used a podracer's electricity to shock[3] the Scourge out of BT-1, who the Scourge had used to find and infect a cyborg.[1]
While BT-1 was knocked out, R2-D2 and 0-0-0 were interrupted by the droid bounty hunter IG-88B, who was in pursuit of 0-0-0 and BT-1 for crimes they committed on[3] the planet[5] Milvayne. That, in turn, was interrupted by the arrival of another droid bounty hunter, 4-LOM,[3] who had heard rumors R2-D2 was assembling a team to deal with the Scourge and wanted to help. The Scourged cyborg also attacked, but the incident would ultimately end in R2-D2 knocking out the cyborg. Hiring IG-88's services, the gathering of droids, becoming a new D-Squad, then made their way to the planet Ryloth to find R2-D2's old comrade QT-KT and learn more about the Second Revelation.[1]
