- "Most of the mining is on the far side, and even that's pretty meager. We do get magnite here, and bezorite, and there's talk of some new kesium gas wells going up near Crater-town, but that might just be rumor."
- ―Ergil describes the mining on Jakku
Magnite was a substance that was mined on the planet Jakku. When the traveler Corwin Ballast asked what work was available on Jakku, the bartender Ergel suggested mining magnite or bezorite on the side of the planet opposite to his bar might be an option, also mentioning that kesium gas might have been found near Cratertown.[1]
After the Battle of Endor, the New Republic began collecting a massive amount of Magnite to bring the Nadiri Dockyards to help create the Magnite Crystal Tractor Beam Array for Project Starhawk. After Project Starhawk successfully produced its first prototype, Commander Lindon Javes used a faux Project Starhawk convoy of Magnite to lure the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, Overseer, into the Zavian Abyss, wherein the Star Destroyer was ambushed by the prototype Starhawk.[2]
Behind the scenes
Magnite was first mentioned in the novel Aftermath, which was written by Chuck Wendig and released in 2015.
